LeTV Le 2: An efficient successor with a decent battery backup and camera experience

China-based media streaming giant LeTV (now LeEco) made its Indian debut just a few months ago, with the feature-loaded Le 1s smartphone. The LeEco Le 1s is one of the best devices on the market in the sub-Rs 11,000 price range with a premium design, high-end configuration, decent camera specs and decent battery backup. The company has recently unveiled the LeEco Le 2 as the successor to the Le 1s. The new Le 2 comes with a few upgrades over its predecessor, and aims to shake the mid-range smartphone segment with its features. The phone is currently up for grabs in China, but will soon be launched in the Indian market to take place of the popular Le 1s.

If you currently own a LeTV Le 1s and looking to upgrade to a better device, then the Le 2 is one of the best choices in the market. If you are waiting for the phone to land in India, let’s take a quick look on the features of the device, so you can decide if you should switch to the new LeTV offering or stick to the Le 1s.

LeTV Le 2: feature-loaded phablet with excellent configuration

Talking about the design first, the LeEco Le 2 sports an appealing and durable metal unibody design with usual design elements. The phone offers backlit capacitive navigation buttons below the display, and boasts a fingerprint sensor on the back for enhanced data security. It is the first phone from LeEco to ditch the 3.5mm audio jack in favour of the vendor’s new CDLA (Continual Digital Lossless Audio) standard, which utilises the reversible USB Type-C port to deliver lossless audio. The device measures 7.5mm around the waist, and tips the scale at 153 grams. Overall, design-wise, the LeEco Le 2 offers a design similar to its predecessor.

Display and OS

The LeTV Le 2 flaunts a phablet-grade 5.5-inch InCell display bearing a resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels, and sports almost zero bezels on the sides of the screen. The phone offers an excellent media viewing experience thanks to a pixel density of 401 pixels per inch, which produces colour rich media details. The handset offers an impressive screen to body ratio of 74.21 percent. As for the OS, the phone runs Android Marshmallow out of the box with the brand’s latest custom eUI 5.8 user interface on top, which offers several other software tweaks on top of Android. You will find several customisation options in the Le 2 to dress the UI just the way you want it.

Moving on to the configuration, the Le 2 offers a powerful 2.3GHz deca-core MediaTekHelio X20 processor. It is one of the first phones in the market to utiliseMediaTek’s new 10 core mobile processor. The CPU is further assisted by 3-gigs of RAM and a Mali-T880 MP4 GPU, which delivers an immersive gaming experience even when playing high-end games. For storage, the phone packs in 32-gigabytes of internal memory, so you don’t run out of space to store things. However, the device doesn’t sport a microSD card slot to expand the space further.

The LeEco Le 2 offers several camera upgrades compared to its predecessor. The phone boasts a 16-megapixel primary snapper with an LED flash, phase detection autofocus (PDAF), 4K video recording support and several imaging modes. For selfies and video calling, the device gets a great 8-megapixel secondary snapper to deliver quality selfies even under low light conditions. Its predecessor Le 1s on the other hand offers a mediocre 13MP rear snapper and a 5MP front shooter. So those looking for excellent camera specs in a budget, the Le 2 won’t disappoint you.

Connectivity and battery

When it comes to the connectivity, the LeEco Le 2 packs the bag. The phone offers dual-SIM support for your both personal and professional numbers. It comes with 4G LTE networks support for global 4G networks, VoLTE (voice over LTE) support, dual-band Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS. The device even also packs an Infrared sensor on the top side, which lets you control your compatible home appliances directly from your smartphone. As for the battery, the handset is backed by a beefy 3,000mAh battery, which should easily last for a day on regular usage.

The LeEco Le 2 or LeTV Le 2 comes as a powerful successor to the Le 1s. The phone flaunts a full HD phablet-grade display for immersive media experience, a powerful deca-core CPU, generous amount of internal memory, impressive camera specs, most the connectivity options, a premium design with fingerprint sensor, and a long-lasting battery. It delivers better camera specs, a more powerful processor and latest software experience when compared to its predecessor, the Le 1s. As for the pricing, the LeTV Le 2 price in India is expected to be around Rs 11,000. Its successor, the Le 1s, is also available in the same price range at Rs 10,999 in the country.
